Prof. Liang

Liang, Lily, Ph. D, Associate Professor, Research Lab Director

        Dr. Lily (Rui) Liang joined the Department of Computer Science at UDC in August 2004. She received her PhD degree from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at University of Nevada , Reno , where she worked as a research assistant for three years and a teaching assistant for one year. Dr Liang's research focuses on data mining, risk modeling and decision making, especially with biomedical data.

Gorbachev, Mikhail , Lab Research Assistant

        Mikhail Gorbachev is currently a PhD student at the Catholic University of America. He is an experienced software developer and database administrator with the proven record of technical and research experience and strong mathematical background. He graduated from University of the District of Columbia in May 2008 with the degree of Bachelor of Science in Computer Science(3.83 GPA). Prior to that he successfully completed four years of studies in Volgograd State University (Russia) majoring in Applied Mathematics. In 2008 Mikhail received Xerox fellowship, was recorded in Dean's list, and became an honored member of SEAS Laboratory Fellow Group (LFG). Currently he is a Research Assistant in UDC Scientific Computing Lab working on multiple research, data mining, and programming projects under the guidance of Dr. Liang.

Ramirez Rochac, Juan F., Lab Research Assistant

       Juan Ramirez Rochac is currently a graduate student majoring in Computer Science at the University of the District of Columbia and would like to pursue a PhD. in Computer Science. He holds a bachelor's in Information System Engineering from the University of El Salvador. His research interest lies in high-dimensional databases, artificial intelligence, machine learning and their applications to medicine. As today, Juan is a Research Assistant working under Dr. Liang's supervision at the Scientific Computing Lab.

Rommel Anthony Benites, Lab Research Assistant

       Rommel Anthony Benites is a M.S. in Computer Science first year graduate student at the University of the District of Columbia, D.C. He graduated in 2006 from the “Pontificia Universidad Catolica”, Peru (Pontifical Catholic University-www.pucp.edu.pe) with a Bachelor’s degree in Informatics Engineering. In 2008, he came to USA to work for Strata Group as a Quality Assurance intern for a year in MO. On Spring 2009, he started to pursue his master’s degree in Computer Science at UDC, DC. He is high interested in Bioinformatics and Health Information Systems. After completing his master’s program, he has plans to keep studying and get a PhD. His strongest skills are in software development having more than 4 years experience using Java and C++ among other languages. Currently, he is a Research Assistant at UDC under Dr. Liang’s supervision.

Berouel, Soufiane, Lab Research Assistant

       Soufiane Berouel is a senior student working towards a Bachelor's degree of science in computer science (3.91 CGPA). He is a transfer student from AL Akhawayn University in Morocco, and from his first semester at UDC, soufiane has been on the Dean's list. He also presented in conferences and competitions winning few awards. Soufiane is an experienced programmer in different languages especially Java and works currently as a research assistant in UDC' s Scientific Computing Lab.


Alexander-Reindorf, Nii-Emil, Lab Research Assistant

       Nii-Emil Alexander-Reindorf is a pre-med computer science major at the University of the District of Columbia. His special intereset is in computer graphics and simulations using different tools and programming languages especially C++ and OpenGL. Nii-Emil is also a research assistant in the Scientific Computing Lab under the supervision of Dr. Liang and a member of the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) coalition program in UDC.

Joanna Leszczynska

Leszczynska, Joanna, Lab Research Assistant

        Joanna Leszczynska graduated from a Polytechnic University with a degree in  Civil Engineering in Gdansk, Poland. She enrolled as an undergraduate student in the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology at UDC in Spring 2007. She's currently a Master student of  Computer Science and have received honors on the Dean's list for several times. She  active participates in a number of presentations and publications and  is a member of IEEE, ACM, and ASCE.

Liberty, Togba, previous UDC undergraduate student, graduated Spring 2008

         Togba Liberty started the Bachelors of Science in Computer Science degree course at the University of DC in the Spring of 2004.  Presently a senior, Liberty has maintained an exceptional school record, receiving Dean's List and Academic honors in every semester since.  Liberty has been involved in a number of research projects at the department of Computer Science at UDC.  Notably, he served as a programming participant in a Louis Stoke's Alliance Minority Program (LSAMP) sponsored project, where he interacted and programmed Sony's AIBO robotic dogs using the Tekkotsu software.  Presently, he helps to clean data produced from the Dr. Liang's  project.
